Or perhaps I was too distracted taking photos of the amazing structures by the sea... and just soaking it all in in whatever solitude I find away from the crowd. It is quite an experience being in monuments built more than two thousand years ago and still standing strong and proud.

    ... the much promoted statue of Montalbano leaning against a lamppost had gone walkabout, much to Ian's amusement. We had a beer and clambered on our bicycles to Villa Franca in San Leone, a nearby seaside resort.
