Very nice hotel, very clean and pretty. Good for a quick stopover but not sure if it's near much if you are wanting to sight see. Breakfast was fab - best muesli ever.

Had a walk around Saint - Quentin this morning and had some lovely croissants and pan au chocolate from Patissier Boulanger in the square. Fantastic buildings and an amazing clock tower where the bells ring an amazing melody every half hour.
Started out on our journey to Switzerland which took so much longer than we expected as there were quite …

... a lovely Indian lady who let me scream on the way down and even joined in to make me feel better. Short wait at the bottom for everyone else. While we were waiting the Indian lady told us lovely stories about her travels. Told us she left her husband at the top as she had had enough and he likes to do everything like a big kid as he said he is old now so wants to do it all. Said he would t be worried about her as he would know where she was ...

... easily see our hotel over the bridge, so simply walked across. It took around five minutes, dragging our suitcases. We walked alongside the river to what we assumed was the entrance, only to find that that was the restaurant entrance only. We then had to back track over cobblestones to a little street where the entrance was at the rear of the hotel. The boys were allotted a city view room, which was fairly large ...

... a 70m tower for panoramic views over Zurich, its lake and the other surrounding valleys. We walked back down towards the train station and into a restaurant where we had great yarn over a feast of cheese fondue (laced with schnapps) and beer. Traditionally, anyone who drops a piece of bread into the bubbling cheese has to perform some pre agreed feat, which can be something like a naked circuit of the restaurant - thankfully nobody dropped their bread!

... Entree was meat lasagne, very tasty, followed by a main course of the most tender slices of thin veal in a thin gravy with roasted potatoes and salad on the side. Although already every full we then had "grandmas cake" for dessert which was a lemon filling cake with slivers of almonds on top. Very sweet but very delicious. Complimenting the cake we were served a cup of coffee, although I only a few sips of black coffee as I was quite tired from the long ...
