... 3 hour bus journey was a steal at only €5 per person!!! Our journey through Albania was a culture shock. We soon realised that Albania is not a first world country. Litter is everywhere, EVERYWHERE!!! Amongst the rubbish are fruit and vegi stalls, fish in buckets of water and whole skinned animals hanging in dirty windows. The town of Berat (our destination) was a little bit cleaner than the rest of the country and the only place in Albania to have drinkable tap water. Berat ...

... buy something, walk behind it and do a 180 and come out like, nope, we were always heading this way. You can see where the laughter and not so non-chalant came in, can’t you.

But the giro is quite an experience. Not only is it nice to be in a crowd of like-minded people just meandering around but it is an awesome way to digest your dinner - especially seeing as the Albanians haven’t quite figured out ...

... something like stupid people don’t know how to kill a cow, he’s just stunned it. For some reason we are driving by really, really slowly, it seems. Think there was traffic. I saw that the man with a mallet was drawing back for another shot at the cow’s head so I looked away at that point. My daughter also looked away at the killing moment but she saw that it took the guy 3 times with the mallet to kill it ...
