... we stopped at a cemetery that had both Muslim and Christian headstones rather than in separate cemeteries as is normal in other countries. Our Christian guide who was married to a Muslim woman claimed that there was no conflict between the religions. On Wed, 5/14, we went to Durres then on to Tirana, the capital of Albania. Duress is the main seaport for Albania and one of its oldest towns. The main site was ...

Any other country, and that might have been the case, but not in Albania. I had read something about this in the guidebook, but Bledi explained to us that in smaller Albanian towns, when they say 1000, they actually mean 100. WTF???!?!? So our bill was actually 1250 leke, a much ...

... han.” Well, didn’t get to see any of the mosques except for from above and sometimes wasn’t sure if I was looking at the right thing. Good thing about mosques, usually there’s a minaret so you can home in on that.

We see a cloud front coming into town. It is a quite distinctive line where the cloud front meets the sky. We stop at Ardenica to visit an old monastery where Scanderbeg ...
