... for the local soba noodles with mountain spring vegetables (we'd already seen fresh fern curls in the vegetable shop) - on the way we came across a Japanese doll shop - these dolls are used for a variety of purposes and ceremonies. ... only to find that we'd lost Nia's camera. We took the room apart but it was nowhere to be seen. We concluded it had been packed into a bag. We left the hotel in a taxi rather later than planned for our 10am train and only just remembered once the taxi set off that we'd left valuables in the hotel safe! Sunday – April 5th

Easter Sunday was our day of rest. It was nice to have breakfast at the Lodge and not need to put on our ski gear and hit the mountain. We hung out at the Lodge for a couple of hours and then explored the town a little more. We walked up to the "top of town" where the cooking onsen is. Nozawa Onsen

We arrived at Villa Nozawa to be greeted by Kyoko-san and Mark and Gab – it hardly felt like we'd been away for over a year as they welcomed us like we’d left last week. Villa Nozawa has a lovely warm vibe, always lots of kids and friendly families. They are full which is great (although it makes bookings for next season harder!)

... hugging yourself in the fetus position in a bath, but upright and you will be halfway to understanding this bathtub. It was fantastic to soak in during the cold nights.
The house itself consisted of 5 rooms, only separated by sliding doors. between rooms they were made of wood, but facing the outside they were made of paper. This allowed the morning light to suffuse through the screens, a great way to wake up. Around the sides of the house there is a ...
