The window of our hotel room opens to a covered inner courtyard, so you can imagine our surprise when we stepped outside to find 6 inches of snow on the ground. Surprisingly it was a little warmer than the last two days, about 26 degrees. This is the day I've been waiting for... the day that I would prove to Jonathan that bringing snow shoes on a three week trip to Europe was not a silly idea. Ha! ... t stop until we got to Colditz. The satnav navigated us away from the city and appeared to be working well. However, we suddenly came across a road junction that wasn't there and then realised that the roads it was taking us on were getting smaller and smaller. ... at the gravesite of J. S. Bach—his third place of burial. From there I returned to the Markt to check out activities for CSD. There were booths for various organizations, a couple of beverage stands and a stage with entertainment. I would guess there were perhaps around 1,000 people milling around the Markt enjoying the activities.
