The six hour train ride to Leipzig brought us into the heart of Germany. We have never been in this part of the old East before and it seemed as though we were travelling back through the pages of school and university textbooks, with places like Weimar bringing back memories of half forgotten lectures. The countryside looked extremely prosperous and we could see none of the old Soviet style buildings that we had still seen in the nineties ...
