    I'm going to be straight up with you all. I have spent a large portion of today lounging about in my underwear. It's amazing how being able to do something like that becomes a source of immense happiness when you've been sharing a room for so long. I've had nights in a room by myself just recently in Sighisoara, and before that on overnight trains and in Jordan, but in those places you don't truly have the place to yourself. ...

    ... smelled like a cesspit. Of course, I insisted on continuing to walk around the nearby tourist spots and then all the way back to the train station. I was twice as bad by the time I got back.

    To cap it all off, when I got on the train and opened the large bottle of water I purchased, I heard that dreaded hiss that signifies that yes, you bought sparkling water by mistake. Ugh.

    Regardless, I'm now in Debrecen, ...

    ... near the University where Ildiko has been studying Hungarian. Got to the museum just in time to see lovely paintings and a film on the putzas. After dropping Ildiko at the station, we found our hotel after several trips around a block and through an archway to a bank!

    ... on the other side of Debrecen as we approach the Romanian border. We cross into Romania without incident, although we're stopped by a policeman who checks our passports. Hilli comes out in a cold sweat. We try to buy a road vignette, but unlike in Austria and Switzerland, are assured with a smile that bikers don't need them.
