Today I toured the town of Wurzburg, which is where the often traveled by tourists "Romantic Road" begins. Along with taking an English tour of the city, which ended up being a private tour as I was the only one who signed-up, I took a tour of the Wurzburg Residence, a UNESCO heritage site, which is a baroque palace of prince-bishops.

The Residence took 60 years to build and at one time there were 400 people ...
Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany trockieWhile going from case to case at the various German hospitals, I had the opportunity to finally see what the Autobahn was all about. Yes, there is no speed limit, but it has plenty of traffic, so it didn't prove to be the speed thrill I had imagined. We did get some RPM's revving every once-in-awhile however.
<br ...

Best food of the trip!

This town is known for cuckoo clocks and Christmas shops. Everywhere there were beautiful shops and quaint cafes. I would return to this town in a minute. Our guide, Victoria, was enamored with the color orange. "From her head down to her toenails". She was
originally from ...
Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany premiertravelAt Bamberg we left the Danube-Main Canal. The canal was completed in 1992 and allows ships to travel from the North Sea to the Black Sea. This connection had been dreamed of since Charlemagne tried digging one in the 8th century. Another attempt was made in the 1800s but the advent of the railroad doomed it. It took 20th century technology to make it possible. The canal itself has 34 locks out of the total of ...
Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany tucsonjohn... most important cities in the Holy Roman Empire and in 1248 work began on its mighty cathedral, designed to house the relics of the Three Wise Men. Known as the Dom (pronounced dome), it was once the world’s tallest building and is arguably still the world’s greatest Gothic edifice, attracting pilgrims from all over Europe, even though it was not to be completed for another six centuries. It is still Germany’s most visited attraction.
Cologne, Bavaria, Germany timedeng... on in German, so we quietly leave the room.

We get the guides and begin the tour of the castle. The first rooms are about the war and what happened in this area. Most buildings were bombed and then fire bombed so a lot of the town was destroyed. Then it went on to describe the rebuilding of the town and then Germany as a whole. It wasn't quite what we had expected as we thought we would be seeing the rooms ...
Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany dancejill... br>
Now we're back at the hostel taking advantage of the free internet and computers. The strange thing is that it's a German keyboard so the letters are in different places. If there are misspellings, that's why. I can also blame my confusion of the difference in its and it's on that. For now. One day I'll have to learn that for good.

Tomorrow we're hanging out, seeing the sights of Würzburg and then going to Berlin. More updates later, I love and miss you guys!
Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany laceymh... we certainly had a lot of fun. I took the video camera and filmed the staff introducing them however once again I started of with the cap on but we figured that one out pretty quickly as I couldn’t see anything much to the amusement of the people around. Still had lunch at 12.30 but must admit didn’t eat as much because we weren’t that hungry. We docked at about 1.30 and left the ...

The colors were really soft and easy on the eyes. There was also a hall of mirrors, which was kinda cool. The lavish decorations kept us busy for a while. We then left to check out the Old Town (every city, it seems, has an Old Town. I don't think we ever saw the "new towns." I ...
