This is a beautiful Spa town . The hotels are spectacular , perched on cliffs .painted in beautiful colours Most were built 1880 when taking the waters was popular , but has been a spa town for hundreds of years .

There are many fountains of hot water for people to drink . They recommend that you use a teapot shaped cup to sip the water as you walk slowly .

They eh all looked silly , but the cup vendors happy .

I am writing this from my stateroom, finally on our river boat! Let me tell you how we got here.

We left Prague at 8:30 this morning. We rode about 2 hours on a bus to Karlovy Vary, a spa town in the Czech Republic. This town is known for it's mineral water and people often go there to rest and recover from illness. The water is said to have healing properties. There are beautiful lixury hotels and fancy restaurants and shops. Every shop had ...

The town square was eerily deserted on a Sunday afternoon, however we did manage to find a nice pizza and pasta place for lunch to finish off what was a great weekend escaping the city and enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings of Bohemia.

    ... all day ;-)

But to be fair the town was a magnificient little czech beauty with its picturesque buldings painted red/ yellow/ green and pink. Beautiful architecture really.

We at least started the tour with good old Becherovka brewerie tour which included 3 morning shots to wake us up. That was rough haha!

In the end we ended up sitting in a park bathing in sun, enjoying the +10 degrees and drinking good cheap czech brews.

... up from the Vridlo in the covered hallway of the colonnade.

Itīs typical for Karlovy Vary that everybody want to try the curative springs. Hence, people usually buy small cups and walk along the particular colonnades while drinking the curative water. We tried one spring, itīs called the Snakeīs Spring (Hadi pramen) and has 30 °C. Well, it tasted like a salty mineral water…we didnīt like it at all so it was even more surprising that there were so ...
