... Als Tourist hat man dies alles fuer sich.
Philip II, Vater von Alexander dem Grossen, gruendete nahe Bitola die Stadt Heraclea Lyncestis die bis in die byzantinische Zeit eine bedeutende Stadt war, im 4 Jahrhundert auch wichtige christliche Stadt wurde mit einer Basilika, von der heute noch gute Bodenmosaike erhalten sind. Die Stadt wurde dann von den Goten und erneut von den Slawen gepluendert und verfiel dann.

anbei noch einige Nachtaufnahmen aus Ohrid. Endlich weiss ich, dass ich mein Trauma vom Raubueberfall ueberwunden habe, wenn ich durch eine dunkle osteuropaeische Stadt wandere:-)

Ohrid, Ohrid, Macedonia will.traveller... offered us a book describing this special place. As with many of the churches we have seen, the frescos inside were stunning. What added to the appeal is this monastery's location -- right on a cliff overlooking the clear waters of the lake. After visiting the monastery we decided to take the springs boat trip.

I think we like Macedonia better than Greece! Ohrid is a town after which a lake is named. This holds an endemic fish species, a kind of trout, found nowhere else in the world.
