... across what was a border crossing - on track we thought, let's full up before going through so pulled into the service station nearby. Euros, why is everyone paying in euros I thought whilst standing inline to pay. Rushed back out and my suspicions were confirmed... We were at the Greece border - what the hell tommy! Tried and tried again to calculate an alternative and no such luck, tommy insisted that we drive into Greece, along the Greece border for an hour or so ...

    ... exactly what Albania was like, being so close to western Europe (4 days riding/driving from Austria) you would think that bit of it would have rubbed off, but I imagine after all the trouble Albania has seen it seems as if it just trying to start all over again.     ... the atmosphere is nice, the one street lined with shops and cafes almost Western European-like in architecture, and it's not hard to get caught up in the people-watching. I tried a local specialty loosely translated as "cheese in the oven" - a pot of ham, mushrooms, and a blend of two cheeses melted in the oven and served with thin, pizza crust-like bread. Mmm.
