    ... flame that is said to have been burning since Yamadera's foundation. Due to the extra time we needed this morning we arrive at Yamadera later than we had planned. The map of the complex shows many buildings along the 1015 steps (!!) up to the top. It takes at least an hour to get to the top, for some, and that includes us, the climb is too much.     Early this morning there was another earthquake. Emile saw the curtains sway. When googling it, we found the epicenter was northeast off the coast of Honshu and it had a magnitude of 6.8. No wonder it was noticeable in Tokyo as well. This morning we leave for Yamagata, about 3 hours by train north-northwest of Tokyo.     Today's forecast is calling for rain, so this will be a good day to do laundry. After the concierge explains how to set the washing machine I start a load of white wash.
