We were in Stuttgart this week for work, so we took a short trip to explore Ludwigsburg. It was a cold day and we stopped for second breakfast at Residenz Cafe which was a 5th generation family business. Outside the shop was a mobile bakery with loads of cakes and breads (brot). Afterwards we walked through the town and stopped by ...

... br> Tita, Tito and I are now sitting on the couch watching the news. They are TORTURING ME with this surprise trip, I can't stand it. I just took a large mouthful of water out of the cup, when Tita said, "When you drink it looks like you are eating that cup!". Which was followed by water SPEWING all over the floor, couch and my pajamas- missed the IPad thank god. Tita and I cannot stop laughing.

Hope all is well,

We spent two days in Stuttgart, and the highlight for me was walking around the Volksfest. There were carnival rides like a huge ferris wheel and about half a dozen beer tents serving typical German food & beer while singers and dancers entertained the crowd. Tent is really a misnomer. The tents held 5000 people each. Yes, 5000. They estimate about 4 million people each year visit this free 2 week festival, held in late September & early October.

Spaetzle, wie es sein soll (Spat. as it should be)

... I grew up with were there and a few surprises that have never crossed my taste buds before. Highlights include Spaetzle, a cross between a noodle and a dumpling. I ordered Spaetzle in Graz, but what I got was hardly what I would call Spaetzle-the noodles were smooth and resembled long worms. The texture of Spaetzle in Stuttgart was just right and just as good as home cookin'. Another delight I tried was ...
