... this can be pretty daunting if you are a prude like Steph but it wasn't nearly as bad as she thought. Surrounded by lots of naked old ladies in a few outdoor hot water rock pool baths, over looking beautiful snow capped mountains, a river and lots of autumny trees, it was actually really relaxing. We also got to try on a yukata, which is like a kimono type of dressing gown, and eat lots of free cupcakes and ice lollies and drink lots ...

Her friend's shop was near the water but had not been flooded in previous tsunamis. When the first warning was broadcast, the friend thought her shop would again not be affected. A true highlight of our japanese experience is Zao Onsen, a ski resort town about 45 minutes East of Yamagata.
We came here a bit by chance and were very lucky indeed. This town is so charming, lots of little lodges and restaurants, it's pretty, clean and surrounded by mountains, ski slopes and lakes. On our first day we visited the different sites: two lakes, the shrines etc... Yesterday we climbed Okama (there is ropeway ...
