... because there was a professional photography crew there. They were setting up a very large camera and there was also a man with them flying a remote controlled contraption above our heads. The taxi driver served as our personal photographer while he waited to take us to the train station.
We missed the first train and while we were waiting, Minoru asked about our dinner plans. We really were still quite full from lunch and tea but somehow we ended up making plans with him ...

A true highlight of any japanese experience is Zao Onsen, a ski resort town about 45 minutes East of Yamagata.
Came here a bit by chance and was very lucky indeed. This town is so charming, lots of little lodges and restaurants, it's pretty, clean and surrounded by mountains, ski slopes and lakes. ... the way so the trains weren't working anymore, we had to wait for a bus and then the bus left us at another train station and finally we got where we needed to be. Total time by local train: 13hours.
Collapsed once i arrived in the hotel that had a shower, which i hadn't had for two days (lol) and passed out.
