... unlike many European cities, Zurich never suffered a major fire. For lunch I went to Swiss Chalet in Zurich. I had Schlemmerpfanne, which is a 6oz cheese gratinated beef tenerloin, house made spatzle, with mushroom sauce and winter vegetables. It was very good except for the mushroom sauce, becasue I don't like mushrooms. For desser I had coup denmark, which is vanilla ice cream served with ...

... and then hit the sack, ready to head into the Alps the next day!

As we made our way through more mountain passes and beautiful green valleys we passed what I thought was our first toll stop on our drive through Switzerland. Despite it being Valentines Day, I got the idea to email Mike and see if he would like to join me for a late lunch because it beats eating alone and it is always nice to get to know a new person better. So I went back to the street the hotel was on, and basically crouched on ...

... little removed from the tourist trap. It was a good 20 minute walk from the station if you knew where you were going and didn't have a big bag on your back, but we managed to find it without too much bother. After we checked in we went for a walk around the lanes and canals. We headed for Piazza San Marco first and then just wandered around. We were in search of a pizza to share for dinner so we found a nice looking restaurant and were ...
