Typical Caldera hotel perfectly situated right on cliff edge and directly overlooking the old port, donkey track, cable car and up to caldera to Oui. Room 9 was great with a big side terrace and also a front balcony table. Cruise ships moored under on the caldera and activity all day with donkeys carrying ship passengers up the steep cliff face. Great hotel although approx. 110 steps to the top street level. Fantastic views of volcano island, caldera and sunset

The bonus to our stay here was just the top notch view of the caldera. So beautiful!!!

... staff are very friendly- shout outs to Natalia and Oristas. We met a couple that had just arrived from Miami and we think they brought the rain, wind and cold with them LOL. It became so cold and windy pretty quickly. It started to pour, and with nothing else to do we napped all afternoon. Steph got cabin fever and we ventured out in our rain gear to ...

... park the bike. We had a bit of a wander round the cobbled streets and found a good spot to sit and wait for the sunset. Unfortunately the clouds decided to make an appearance and we didn't get the amazing sunset that we would have liked. Never mind we still got some great shots. We headed back to our hotel before it got too dark for Peter to drive. What a great day today. Can't wait to see where our little quad bike takes us ...

... only other customers are a couple from France. We sit on the balcony with the owner's Jack Russell dog for company and order lunch, which when it arrives is simple, fresh and delicious. I wash mine down with a Yellow Donkey, which is a local beer, before I venture out onto the rocky outcrop, Skaros, which juts out into the sea in front of us. It is a long, steep cliff path leading to the high rocky outcrop, with dramatic cliffs on either side of the path and breathtaking views. ...

... still managed to force myself to go to Carrefour to get some food for today! Everyone seems to be addicted to these iced coffee things here, which are a black coffee put in a milkshake blender, and then foamy milk on top. They are quite strong, and have nothing on the yummy Thai coffees! Plus they cost 4 or 5 Euros. Mine was supposed to be a chocolate one, but all I could taste was coffee.

I got my first taste of Greek culture when I was going through customs at ...
