Our free day together! We planned to check out a display at Les Invalides, visit the Catacombs and see the Promenade Plantee. We also hoped for a nap! Darin and I slept somewhat late...though it is hard to sleep at all with the windows open in this room. Headed over to the Rue Cler in search of a crepe for Darin for breakfast. We didn't find one...

So...we had one day to show Mom Paris. Her feet were really hurting from the blisters and she wanted to take one of those hop on/hop off bus tours. The very thought of taking a bus tour in Paris...the ultimate walking city...I just couldn't take it. So, we (I?) decided to take the BatoBus tour instead. Still hop on/hop off at the major sites but...

Up early again today to conquer Versailles! Met in the lobby at 8:00 and walked over to a pastry shop for some pain au chocolat and juice to eat on the train. Caught the 9:00 RER to Versailles. Lots of people on the train heading that way and many with Rick Steves books in hand! Pretty funny. Rick's advice is to arrive by 9:00 or else wait until...

Another day that should have been easy but wasn't. We seem to be developing a theme! Left the hotel in St. Goar by 8:45 am for the 2 hour drive to Trier (we even knew where the shortcut road was this time!) So, our estimated time of arrival in Trier was 11:00. I was hopeful that we'd have enough time to drop off the car and catch the Noon train ...
