... relaxing. The view from the top was spectacular and the castle itself amazing. First built in the 11th century, it was fully restored in the early 1900s. After lunch the line of cars and crowds of people magically dispersed and we left to drive to Bergheim. Bergheim is a little, walled, medieval city, and where our accommodation was for the night. ... called the maneater. Sad stuff. From there headed into Colmar, the bigger town of the area. A really beautiful place. Half timbered and stone houses and flowers everywhere. Had a really nice look around, and then spent the night in a really nice hotel, the Turenne. Took a salad down to the town square about 8pm and listened to the live music and watched people. ...

Our second morning in Beaune started the same as the first! Breakfast of chocolate croissants and quiche in our courtyard. We then checked out and drove to Eguisheim via Besancon. Beautiful drive, the French countryside is exquisite. The summer days are warm and long, but the country is lush and green. ... to have some desert to stay indoors a bit longer. Ric and Sue shred an entire of escargot and then had lovely meal followed by ice cream. The flavour it still yet unknown as we just pointed and hoped.
