... in Europe. Back to our car and on to Stuttgart to our Ibis Hotel by the airport. Mucki and Wolfgang had dropped off our red and blue backpacks on the weekend. We now have all our luggage again. We farewelled Katrin and Wolfgang at 6pm, they still had a 2.5 hr drive to get home. Ron and I bought food in the Leidl Supermarket next to our hotel and ate it in our ...

... day with the temperatures in the high 70s.

So on our journey today, we hit 5 countries: Austria, Germany Liechtenstein, Switzerland and France.

Colmar is in the Alsace region of France. It's been part of Germany at times and part of France at times. There is a different language here, Alsatian, sort of a cross between Germany and French. Colmar and the Alsace region are now part of France, and have been since the end of WWII.

I'll go a long way for a decent scrabble letter. Kate suggested Sainte Marie aux Mines but if you are going to have an x, have it at the beginning. Which is how we find ourselves staring out over a lake in the Alsace region just outside Xonrupt-Longemer.

Journey or place? Hmmm. Place. We appear to be in the centre of a national park. Camped, as suggested above, on the edge of a lake, with ski-slope shaped ...

... with a great gargonzola cream sauce. The chef seems very good at creating excellent sauces to compliment the meals. All dinners feature complimentary two choices of red or white wine or beer. All have been very good. Oh, and tonight the featured desserts were either an apricot stuffed dumpling (with a vanilla sauce) or ice cream Romanoff (liquored strawberriy topping). Tough why not have both says Jan and Chuck. So we did!

We slept well!
