Today we are in Chania, Crete (pronounced HAN IA). This port city is on the western coast of Crete. It was founded in the 3 century BC.. It has been occupied by many ethnic groups over the years but it has always been Greek with the Greek language. Crete is the largest of the Greek Isles. There are over 35 million ...

... on the trail by 7:30. It was a long 6 hr and hot trek. But the experience was worth it. It was a good chance to see Crete's natural side. We were glad to have a cold beer, have a swim in the ocean, and shower in a village hotel room. The next day, we took a ferry to the next village. While we waited for the 6:30 bus back to Chania we walked to a beach and swam and slept. Pretty nice ! ...

... host-Niko (he, he, he). This introduced us to the reason why I love Greek food (fresh veggies, herbs, cheese) and why I now truly appreciate Cretan hospitality-you start with a little dip and you end with a tasty little dessert bite (yogurt with honey, melon, a little cake) and that very Cretan institution-RAKI!!!!! So ...
