I have no plan but I've had a lovely sleep in my lovely little room and wake up quite late. My washing has dried thanks to the amazing person who pulled it in from the rain. So I have clean clothes!! Quite frankly they were so gross I wouldn't speak to me if I had the choice. My only plan is to walk to the train station and catch the first train I can use my pass on. This is kashishma . I know there's a volcano there. The trip down is nice, I love the Shinkansen. I should ...

... at the volcano in the bay. The evening was nice. I tried out a Sushi restaurant and spent the meal talking to a friendly old Japanese gentleman in his broken English - far better than my non existent Japanese - while his wife looked on as we drank more beer than was probably good for him. And now I'm back at the hostel about to call it a night but first trying Mitake, which is a brand of Sweet Potato ...

... nights.

I am writing this on Sunday, March 30. We are at sea on our way to Kobe, Japan where we will disembark around 8:00 AM tomorrow, Monday. We will be bused to the Osaka Airport, from which we are scheduled to fly direct on United flight UA34 to SFO, landing at 10:35 AM on the same day, Monday. So, we leave late Monday afternoon and arrive mid Monday morning. A miracle.

Today, we enjoyed a nice sit-down breakfast (and engaged in fine ...
