The hot noon sun brings the visitors in swarms out of the station, quickly seeking shade and refuge in the canal side bars, restaurants and cafes. The canals quickly become lively motorways of cruise boats, barges and pleasure craft.

The haze of yesterday clears and the city returns to its vibrant, noisy, colourful self - the week has begun….

We drove to Haarzuilens where there was an old village and castle. This town was great to see. All the homes had a white and red checkered theme to their shutters and some doors, even the little school.
