While the plans for a train line didn't make it to fruition, there is now a motorway across the top of the dyke providing an efficient link between the north and north-east coastline.

... mowed down! I thought I walked fast but gosh some of these folk can move!
It's been great to talk to both the girls in the last 24hrs. Thanks to the friends who helped make Rachel's birthday special by getting in touch with her etc. Hannah's exciting news is that she has been chosen for the Otago Univ Women's rowing 8 again and another trip to China looks imminent.

Went to the red light district, the girls were a lot prettier than I thought they'd be ;)
Had tea at a really cute restaurant
And got to go up and down the canal

Overall it was a great day in Amsterdam, and yes I think a day is enough to get the 'essence' of Amsterdam
I obviously didn't do any of the crazy things like go to a sex show, or smoke weed or get drunk..but whatever, it was still awesome!
