... in an eatery. The eatery was Kogetsu and it looked like it had seen better days. When we were looking at the menu in front of the eatery, a friendly cook came out and talked to us. She said squid ball was a speciality of the area and highly recommended it for us. Eventually, we had lunch there and squid ball was very good. All's well that ends well. We were satisfied with the trip to Sado and headed home.

... very late last night, is that the train, we had been suggested by the internet distance calculator, is not a JR train and would have cost us extra, so we happily drag the suitcases to the nearest office building and find a few lunch restaurants in the basement, order ourselves ramen noodles. I worked with Shun Sawada in 1995 teaching English at Niitsu High School and had the pleasure of meeting his lovely wife, Suzuyo, many times as she taught me Ikebana, Japanese flower arranging. Dinner was an assortment of pre-packaged buns and rolls with weird and wonderful flavours which some people may say isn't really dinner, well tough bikkies they tasted too good for me to care. We used the ancient computer in the lobby of the hotel to get in touch with the outside world again and to let our hosts on Sado island know what time we will be arriving the next day then headed off to bed.

... The package also included a western dinner and breakfast, using locally grown foods. Quite a few inns have the dinner/breakfast option, so we didnīt think too much of it but dinner ended up being this decadent 6 course meal.
