Hotel Katerina Ios

this trip was very special to me,because it was the first one after I finally finished with school and had the freedom to do everything I want,without anybody else controlling me!the only thing I wanted to do is find a nice place with great people to relax and so I did.i met many interesting people and it was a journey to remember!

Well, a very enjoyable last night in Santorini. had dinner at a lovely restaurant overlooking the sunset strip. Pity it wasn't the clearest of nights but still spectacular.
Dinner consisted of grilled pork with pureed red pepper and potatoes with cheese and Souvlaki Lamb with baked potato.
A 5.00 am start got us on to the flight to Athens then Rome.

After a sleep in we wandered into town to choose a suitable location for our anniversary dinner tonight (21 years!).
As usual we just had to take more photos ~ don't worry, after a few more tonight this will be all of Santorini.
Next, Italy where the forecast is 0 to 14 degrees. BRR BRR

... After an hour or so walking over the lava flows we motored on to some hot springs where hardier folk than us braved an icy plunge into the sea to reach the warm springs.(Hey we're used to tropical waters!)
Soon we moored at Thirasia Island for a couple of hours for lunch and Mythos at waterfront tavernas which are still much as they were 50 years ago.
Tomorrow is our last day here so we are making the most of the sun, as the forecast for Italy is bloody freezing

... had been before and looked down at the beach and out to the ocean and the islands below. Then we headed down the mountain on the other side, passing by heaps of olive trees and finally ending up back in the old section of Corfu Town with a quick stop to see "Mouse Island", aptly named because of its size and shape. We got back on the bus around 6pm and quickly got dressed for dinner.

Overall, we had a wonderful time on the cruise. It was nice to get out of ...

... just do happened to want to travel on a
Greek holiday, all the worth while. It had the mylopota beach, google
that ****. Then, it had the swimming pools and a mini mart, it even had
mosquitoes which decided to feast on my body over the next five days.



Immediately, we settled down in our two and three person bungalows.
Erin, phil and myself bunked the first night, where mosquitoes had a
treat, along with the annoyance of black flies. Holy ...

... and when we did, it all began. When you look up at the mountain from a distance all you see is a white building. As soon as you get there you realized that there are very small aleey ways taht are actually major streets. There were so many people and so mnay clubs it was unreal. possibly receiving "the best" level of night life that I have seen. We hopped around so mnay clubs that night that the 3 of us , Chitty, Peter and Myself, came home at about 5am!!! The next morning we woke up ...

... the next few weeks. It is going to go absolutely mental and I want no part of it. Not really anyway. So I went back and forth over the last week or two trying to figure out a gameplan on where to go and what to see. I was going to go off to Corfu on the west coast of Greece, but then I overheard someone talking about it and saying it was like Cancun on spring break and I figured I wouldn't feel too bad about passing that one up. ... It was only an hour or two later when Joe and I set out for dinner did we find out that this town is very seasonal. Unlike the other towns, most of the locals eat at home and maybe go to the coffee shops, but that's really about it. We walked around and around and asked many locals where to eat, and they kept saying, "This time of the year is tough". We walked down the hill, back to the port and found a super market and bought some food. I ...

... to the main beach where the contiki people stay and parties. There was volleyball games, drinking, it was like being at the Cott on a sunday but with more people, right on the beach and everyone walking around in their bikinis. Was nice to watch the sunset on the beach again. We played some drinking games then headed out to the nightclubs. Crazy I tell ya. You pay 10 euros to get in then you ...
