Kruja
... assumed meant, "This is the last stop." Mom and I disembarked, paying our fare of 150 leke ($1.42) each to the driver as we exited.
Mom and I didn’t have a map or detailed information about getting up to Kruja. We thought perhaps you could just walk up the road to the old city. We asked a taxi driver about going to Kruja. We couldn’t understand anything that he said. He then pulled out his wallet and showed us a 1,000-leke ($9.43) bill. I assumed he wanted ...
Albania, the land of a million Mercedes
... so many Mercedes in my life. Every taxi and van was a Mercedes and at least half of the cars were as well. Apparently a lot of these are stolen and bought into the country and given the fact we saw 1 Mercedes store in 3 days I would say this is true!
We arrived in Shkodra around 11.15 and were greeted by men yelling `Tirana, Tirana, Tirana!` at us. One just walked up to the cab and grabbed my bag out of it! Fortunately we did want to go to Tirana so we jumped in a ...

We enjoyed the evening in a small bar, eating grilled sausages and drinking Albanian red wine.

Stayed at a cool hostel run by an out-there Irish lady. Showed me how to make baileys- it’s ...
First day of touring
... am really getting into the turkey photos here. Hardly ever get to see a live turkey up close in the states.
Go into the Scanderbeg Museum and only the very first statues in the entry way are photographed. Then I must put away my camera for the rest of the museum. It is a very nice museum and Klodi did quite a good job of telling us about Scanderbeg who is revered as a national hero who helped ...
