    Around 90% of Hannover were destroyed during WW2 and when I saw some of
    the old houses that remained untouched it really broke my heart as I
    could only imagine how pretty this city must have once been.

    I hope you will enjoy the (rebuilt) remains as much as I did.

    After work some colleages and I went out and walked through the city center down to the Marschsee. There was a festival and we were curious to see it.

    ... an ambition of jumping off the 5 metre diving board. Again James had to work, but we headed out to Hannover in the evening for more gin and 2 foot long pork kebabs - delicious! Hannover impressed in the short time we spent there. Wednesday morning and it was time to go after ruining James' work week with booze and seeing the kids hopefully form a strong friendship for the future. Thanks to all the Backers for a great few ...

    ... of the succession to the Throne of george Ludwig and also, the last year that there will be a British military presence in Germany. So following WW2, 70 years of our forces being based in Germany will come to an end. It is quite strange and an odd quirk of history that it is also the centenary of the first great European exercise in collective slaughter. One can only hope that by 2114, we have learnt something.
