Good clean hotel perfectly positioned in the Centre of Villach. Rooms are relatively basic but comfortable and the bathrooms are good. Safe courtyard parking is a bonus. Breakfast was good with a nice variety of food choices. A really nice hotel choice for the price range. Nil issues at all.

A big day was planned as I had located a Triumph dealer in the town of Villach which was some 370 plus kms from Innsbruck. The bike needed servicing and the rear Tyre was looking a bit second hand. Marg needed her hair serviced as well so we set off straight after breakfast with a mindset to make frequent stops to break up the rather long haul. …

After staying out until 3am last night we still all managed to get up by 8.45 and out and about by 10 (ish). We walked to Vintgar gorge which had been highly recommended to us by our hostel owner, although she failed to mention the one hour ascent in blistering heat. Shout out to Anna for map reading and leading us all the way there, only helped by a couple of road signs and the occasional local to check that we were on the right track. Stopping halfway at a café was ...

... going on to the Savica waterfall and a punishing climb that nearly killed me. This definitely counts as another touristy thing to do as the place was packed and we were charged money, much to Liza's horror. We then drove around more of the area, called Bohinj, before ending up at Kranjska Gora, the aforementioned ski resort, where we had our first non-camp lunch nearby (a massive pizza seeing as you ask).

All of it was unimaginably, dramatically beautiful. ...

I did a whole lot of research yesterday which counted for nothing today as we completely changed our plans. I was going to take Kerry to some ice caves and the pretty town of Helstatt but it meant a bit of back tracking and we decided to push on towards Croatia. Because I refused to drive on the motorways so we could see more of Austria it took us from 10.15 till 5.15 pm to get to our destination. There was ...

... we were about to smash into a very small opening which really didn't seem like we would not crush on the rocks. But at that point you have no choice and the relief when we came up to the surface after the slide was indescribable. We got dropped back directly to the hostel and bought lunch from the supermarket. Bit of a guessing game to what we had bought for lunch. Katie Lucy and Emma chose a bread thing, which had cheese and a sausage hidden in the ...
