... animals on my bike or learning how to eat a meal with an Italian/French/English/Spanish business man, I have had time to really experience the Netherlands. The night life is great and I'm having a blast hanging out with some Canadians, Chicagoians, and a few locals that have become my squad.
As a mini summary, in our time so far here in Holland: I realized bikes are life, Lauren lost her bike key, we've all crashed ...

... I'm sure my neck is happy not to crane that much. We went for a coffee/juice and talked about travel and life...and it was just really nice. I noticed that I was just smiling a huge lot. More than I have in a while...and I smile a lot anyway.  I was really happy.  And it didn't stop.  We went and climbed up the main tower in Groningen and saw the most spectacular view over the city. It was nice as a traveller to have a local showing me the things that ...

    3 Days Off

A travel blog entry by gpcampingcar on Apr 28, 2015

As Holland's King's Day was fast approaching, we decided to stop for 3 days at a glorious camp site in a small town called Heetveld. We explored the local area by bike clocking up a good few Km; didn't help that one of the e-bikes decided to give up the ghost on one of our trips - the Navigator had to cycle back in head wind unassisted for about 20Km...good fun to watch and no we couldn't swap bikes as the Driver's was too high ...

An early morning start for me to get to Roelof and Janny's place in Gorredijk. Then we were off to Urk, a fishing village which was once an island. The weather was great to sit outside and enjoy coffee and lunch and a stroll around the village.
We returned to Gorredijk and then rode bicycles through the woods and countryside to find a lovely quiet place to enjoy afternoon tea, in the sunshine.
An evening meal with Fabriek family and then back to ...

    Meeting the Folkers...

... all of the Folkers and friends that made our stay in Groningen truly awesome. Jan and Gea went above and beyond at every chance they got, driving us everywhere, trusting us with the car, taking us to see family and friends, and just being all round amazing all the time. We were so sad to leave everyone, but saying good bye to Jan and Gea was definitely the hardest. We will be back – sooner rather than later we hope!

Next entry wont be too ...
