Jelenia Góra ('deer mountain') is about couple of hours south from Wroclaw (trains or buses). It is close to the Karkonosze mountain range running along the Polish-Czech border. Only 10-15 km of the town there are few ski resorts such as Karpacz, Szklarska Poreba.
Nice, colorful Market Square, Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theatre, Saint Cross Church, the Old Town are just few places worth of seeing.

... the week was fairly chilled out we could have headed straight to Warsaw over the next few days to visit my family in Poland but they suggested to come the week after when there was a birthday party on, so it would be easier to catch up with everyone in one go. This meant we had quite a bit of time to spend in the region and our plan was just to take our time in Czech and maybe go to south Poland before we headed north to Warsaw.

al the former eastern bloc countries make for good travel,, but the one that i return to is the czech republic,, mainly to the north [north bohemia],liberec,harrochov,cesky raj, but a trip or two to moravia is also worth taking,,. during the communist times it was an eye opener, now also as the people wish for the return of those times,they knew where their bread was coming from, and the upgrades fron old skoda to super fast motorcars,, ah they stilll are crazy on the roads

Liberec ma krasny architekturu z cias ked to bolo druhe najvyznamnejsie mesto v Cechach. Jeho odevnicky a tkacsky priemysel je preslaveny v celom byvalom Ceskoslovensku.

POLSKI: Z jednej strony sie ciesze, z drugiej jest mi troche ciezko na duszy. Typowy dla mnie syndrom konca jakiejs podrozy. Dzis powinnismy dotrzec do domu... W Pradze dotarlismy do stacji metra "Cerny most" i stamtad wsiedlismy w autokar Student Agency do Liberca. Tam okazalo sie, ze wiekszosc osob jezdzi do Polski przez Niemcy, co dla nas bylo bez sensu. The rynek was nice enough, like any Polish town, although the cappuccinos we had in one of the restaurants certainly weren't. ... as I have finally relented and allowed her to have access to the heater, this is due to the clothing crisis, we look silly in just jumpers and shorts (I think this was Jennies plan all along!!). We didn't manage to get into the local town except for the shopping trip as the priority was for Jenn to get the washing done - it may appear that I am a slave driver, but when the lav breaks down I have my hand in the socket fixing it so don't feel too bad.
