Hotel Kangaroo Jaco

Wednesday has rolled round again so it was time for another trip. This time it was to a waterfall about a 45 minute drive from Jacó. After turning off the main highway, then following a dirt track for several miles, we had to hike a short distance to get there. It was worth the effort to get there though; the waterfall isn't huge by any stretch of the imagination, certainly nowhere near the size of the Montezuma waterfall, but the pool at it's base is ...

... good dive nonetheless particularly with all the mating marble rays to be seen that are like flying dinner plates with tails only they are 1 to 1.5 metros in diameter. After lunch Billy decided once again not to make the third dive - even though it was to 'Silverado'. Silverado is the cleaning station found at the foot of a waterfall on Cocos that runs off into the ocean where Silver tip sharks gather to get a 'wash and brush up' from the resident Barber fish that pick off ...

... way! While all that was happening, Gene was stocking the boat up with alcohol, enough for 5 days Gene said. So with 96 beers and 5 bottles of rum on board we set sail for Panama. It wasn't long before we hit the high waves of the Caribbean seas and that was it for me, I was literally hanging over the edge getting rid of what ever I had eaten that day! ... a hot shower (our first yet!), free breakfast, and Internet. The view from the balcony is fantastic, and Ronnie gives extremely helpful advice (and discounts) on activities. His family is more than hospitable, and his children provide hours of entertainment when the inevitable rains set in. ... class they showed me to my apartment and, I hate to brag but, it was swank. Itīs brand new with a huge bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, beautiful bathroom with a sunken tub (sunken tuuub...ahhhhhhh) and a dining room. I may never leave here. Itīs the good life. Iīve got a canopy adventure tour booked for tomorrow. 3 kmīs of ziplines through the cloud forest. Itīs supposed to be a blast. Canīt wait.

... walked into the unknown....a waterfall with no idea what the water on the otherside was like. Thankfully turned out to be about 2 feet deep and really warm. We all sat there feeling a little strange about the whole experience but enjoying the warmth after our soaking. Sitting under the little waterfall was really relaxing as it massaged the neck and shoulders. ... would work. haha, finally they walked up the road where there was a gas station and got the guys there to lend us a tire....hahhahaha, seriously, talk about an adventure. we did finally make it back to our hostel and that was that, the guys all passed out pretty quick but i ended up staying up fairly late just chatting with one of the owners, this super chill rasta guy. we talked about life in general, people, travel, etc. anyways, so far so good!!

... after all, and futbol has to take the back seat. The fact that we are both wearing our Yankee hats makes it even more fun. He tells me he plays shortstop. To see the community fields here with diamonds, rather than soccer goal posts make me warm inside; I love baseball. At Efrain's dad's house, there is a huge mud oven. His wife, not Efrain's mom, is firing it up today and making fresh cookies and pastries in our honor. We are served (more)coffee and ...
