... Vienna opera house, street musicians performing in the streets. Vienna is a shoppers dream, which I would compare with London, Paris or New York. There is a street (actually 3 or 4 blocks) which is referred to as the "unaffordable street". We saw many well known stores: Mont Blanc, Louis Vuitton, Ferrari, Maserati, Tiffany, etc. We spent 3.5 days in Vienna, visiting the ...

When we were tired of shopping we headed back to our bikes. Erin discovered that the button you push to take a picture on her camera was gone. Derek found it near our bikes. ... we had a drink at the bar and took our laptop down there where it works a lot better!! Tonight we walked down to what seems like a local social club. It was full of Austrians and they seem to be enjoying themselves. The meal was okay – I had fish but as you can tell it wasn’t outstanding. Doesn’t matter. Back in the room for planning for tomorrow and it doesn’t seem that noisy after all thank goodness.

(The High Alpine Road with Mountains and Glaciers)

Today we drove the Grossglockner high alpine road, which goes through the Hohe Tauern national park. The road is named for the Grossglockner mountain, the highest in Austria at 3798 meters. The road is 48 km long with 36 hairpin turns, and ascends up and over a pass in the Alps called the Hochtor (high gate) at 2504 km. The Hochtor is also the border between the Austrian states of Salzburg and Carinthia.
