The tour description said that we would travel along narrow, steep curving roads and people with vertigo or fear of heights should not take this tour. The roads were not too bad at the beginning, but we were on a full size bus and there were a couple times where the driver had to wait for a car to pass before we took a curve. However, the road grew steeper and narrower as we began our drive along the Prunelli River Gorge. ...

After three years spent on the continent from 1793 to 1796 due to the family's allegiance with the French Republic, Letizia returned to Ajaccio in 1797 and had the house both improved and enlarged. Napoleon spent a few days there on returning from Egypt in 1799. He ...

We are docked in Porto-Vecchio for the day. As we approach this town, we can see remains of the 16th century citadel which was originally built by the Genoese. During WWII (1943), after we recaptured Corsica from the Germans, we had 14 airfields on this island.

Corsica is noted for cork production and development of the salt industry. Today our excursion is to the hill town of Sartene, ...
