On our third day of the tour we headed to Bodrum where we visited Pamukkale and the ruins of the ancient Roman town of Hierapolis. Here you could bath in Cleopatras baths and bath in the calcium pools which cascaded down the hills making it look like snow. Bodrum is a gorgeous town, by law all the buildings have to be painted white with blue …
... walked up to the really newly discovered theater; they have just started excavating that. Pretty amazing.
Then we continued to Bodrum……and that’s another story! We arrived and were told that we had been upgraded to a junior suite. We were thrilled, of course. Here are two quick pictures:
Today we rejoined the Cenneti Kaptan for another day on the water. The four stops were the same as before Camel Beach, Bagla Bay, Aspat Bay and Aquarium Bay. It was a hottie today with temperatures on the low to mid thirties. Still without the humidity is a much kinder heat than Queensland summertime. ... a cafe on the front then a leisurely walk back to the port with a long sit near the dock watching trucks being filled some kind of gravelly mix. Plumes of dust every time the grab dumped its load in the truck. It was a fine oiled process. We then were back to queuing for passport control and the wait for the catamaran. Today we managed to get to Bodrum Castle - very impressive building with a long and varied history. There were lots of steps and spectacular views of the Aegean as well as Bodrum marina. You can readily see that is would be a great defensive building with visibility to see who is coming. Lunch in our newest find for great pide - this time with complementary apple tea.
