This morning we set off for a little beach just outside Chania for a few hours of relaxation before a late lunch at Johnny's aunt's house. Lunch was in the village, and again under a beautiful canopy of grape vines that kept you very cool and comfortable. ... didn't work out. The ferry took us past a couple of the stopping off at a beautiful one in a crescent shaped bay with all the white washed buildings lining the beach. We got off at the second village stop where we boarded a bus back to Chania. But to get back into the mountains and off the coast we went through more switchbacks. ... of two remaining minarets in Chania. They date back to when the Ottomon Empire took control from the Venetians in the 1600's. The Turks used the for a place to call Muslims to pray. This one is the Minaret of Achmet Aga. I finished the afternoon by climbing to the top of the Siavo Bastion where you could almost get a full 360 degree view of the city. And then it was back to the hotel for nap in air ...
