Unfortunately, the heat wave in the Caucasus continued - Tbilisi was far hotter than the first time I was here, with temperatures in the high 30s. Luckily for them however someone else decided to raise the alarm and have the driver stop. Sure enough over they ran laughing and joking. Little did they know we had been ...

... statue of Stalin. Gori was occupied during the 2008 Russian invasion and according to our guide, was badly damaged at that time. She points out shrapnel and bullet holes in the post-office and a couple of other buildings, but the town is so run-down that I’m left with the feeling that the Russian invasion is a rather convenient excuse.

The main reason we’re in Gori is to visit the Stalin Museum, easy to find on Stalin Avenue! Construction of the museum ...
