... at once. It's more calming. So it took me a couple of days to get used to the variety around me, the fast walking pace, the bicylces, trains, street musicians, grumpy faces, beggers, giant buildings. What instantly made me happy were all the different greens! Even on the phone, with no hands, or carrying all of the shopping home. Lots of customised bikes too... Prams or carts on the front, bikes with two seats and one set of pedals... Fun to see - and there is no dawdling - it's GO or STOP. We had to be very alert at the road ...

... trade. We found a lovely seafood restaurant and ate the local fare while people watching. Saw many interesting sights and made lots of observations e.g. everyone uses a bike except young males, Germans are fascinated by handbag dogs, the only people in Dusseldorf who wear shorts in summer other than Eric are joggers, and lots of older couples dress similarly (that was scary!)
