Salerno seems to be a nice town to stay in. We got here yesterday afternoon - about a 30 minute drive from Pompei. Off the autostrada, we headed toward "centro" to find a hotel. I'm looking at the Garmin trying to get a street map (which never happened) when I realized that the Hotel K in Salerno was set as "home." When Mom was planning the trip, she had entered it in the Garmin, and now we had directions even without a map. There are also a lot of signs so we had little trouble finding the h...

... TravelPod" is a complete pain in the a@$ to use. For our 2010 "Radical Sabbatical" trip to Asia, I'm switching to another web service.
But, I've promised myself that I'll update this blog before we leave Naples...
Ola Kala: simply, OK (in Greek). No time for lots of flap.....we're on the go. The Vatican Museums await us (and we can hardly wait to do more walking!). Enjoy the pictures and we'll fill you in on the adventure next time I make the time to sit and gab.
We're still having a grand time!!!!!

Welcome to our own little corner of Glastonbury
... hostel, saying "have some respect, we have a flight at 6:00am". Granted the doors did have glass windows so the hall light would have been a little bright, but it was only 11:00 in a youth hostel...who brings a family there anyway??
The showers turned out to be interesting too: No curtains, and no privacy. We were showing off our parts to the world... :)
That was the end of that day.
... to mention Khrystia's great line about Mary. In Rome, Khrystia kept referring to her Aunt Mary as Saint Mary. We told Mary, and she replied, of course, St. Mary of Westmount. (Given Mary's work with the kids, she really deserves the title). Tomorrow we hope to explore the Amalphi coast. Must run.
Salerno, Italy lesliemac451... a bottle of wine as well. While we cooked and chatted it became apparent that four bottles of wine was no where near sufficient. Irene and I made a quick run and bought two more bottles. Nothing beats $1.50 bottles. Three dollars down and BAC up we arrived at the apartment in time to eat, drink some more and take some quick still-sober photos. Then we headed to the bars. The next part is a little foggy but all of the sudden I was drunk. Alright, I guess now is the time to admit ...
