... 6th C church - Sant' Apollinare in Classe. Just the apse of the church still has mosaics but they are spectacular - wonderful vibrant greens and beautiful scenes. we had a leisurely lunch outdoors beside the church and caught the bus back to town. It has been warm and sunny today which makes it so much nicer and we had some delicious ice cream on the way home. Full day excursion to Ravenna - known as the city of mosaics as it has the "finest collection of Byzantine mosaics outside of Istanbul". After what I saw today I would believe this.
