      ... about 1 hour on the boat. There is residential along the shoreline and half way up the mountain most of the way around the lake, the further we get away from Como although it begins to thin out and clear townships can be seen.
      Menaggio is, like all the other towns, a holiday destination and at this time of year most of the places are closed. We find somewhere to have lunch and then spend the afternoon wandering through the alleyways ...

      Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.

      ... buses to get to our hostel. After about an hour that included bus rides and lots of stairs, we arrived at the hostel, where we dropped off our stuff and left to explore the city.

      ... right next to Duomo, I'd recommend the ground floor for buying various designer products. We ended up in Excelsior as well which is also a department store only for street style lovers I guess. It was a bit too much kenzo for us so we left using the glass lift.   I'd definitely love to come back to Milan to spend some more time exploring the city because I know there is a lot left to do there.       ... the monastery where the Dominican friars came to eat. It is the entire width of the wall (8.8m x4.6m). Da Vinci used a dry tempera mix which did not hold up well and started to degrade within six years. The church was bombed in WWII but the end wall containing the painting was left standing. It was then sandbagged to hold it up and left in the elements until renovations began. 1999 saw the end of a 21 year restoration where 500 years of touch-ups were removed.Tthe ...
