... it was so close made up for its shortcomings,

We drove home without mishap but it took us about 1 ½ hours to get through the motorway toll at Ventomiglia on Saturday afternoon. The Côte d'Azur is heaving with tourists and it is virtually impossible to go anywhere as you cannot park, have to queue for everything and are anyway unlikely to get in. The food is overpriced and the service is slow and don’t even think about going to the beach as you ...

My compensation was having a couple of cold beers sitting out on the balcony watching the world go by and contemplating where we would eat tonight. My feet were saying, why not try the restaurant in the hotel and so we did, not the greatest meal in the world but the view and the atmosphere was unbeatable.

The Assault on Zara. She has ben waiting for this day for sometime. After breakfast with staff who would rather be anywhere else we take the 10 minute walk into the heart of Milan. It is early enough that the crowds are yet to arrive and we can discover this really nice and classy city with ease. Zara opens at 10.00am and we are in and running. After around 90 minutes we are out armed with some really nice stuff for Carol and some really cool ...
