"After her arrival at his house he and his friends should welcome her and entertain her with loving and agreeable conversation. Thus ends the duties of the day."

We went for dinner with yet another tout telling us about "there's a Python in my backside" and what does INDIA, FANTA, COKE and NEPAL mean. Not ...

Khajuraho-Extraordinary Temple Art

... br>
We visited the main temple complex (western group) the first night and again in the morning. These temples are covered in some of the finest temple art in the world. The temples were constructed by the Chandela Dynasty. Most of them were built between 950 AD and 1050 AD. The temple complex, and the small town associated with it are located in an isolated area in Central India. This isolation helped to protect these temples ...

Single White Girls Wanted @ The Kama Sutra Temples

... was actually a stagnant cess pit, the boys working there were a little bit too attentive and the owner was a Baba who thought he was the re-incarnation of Osho. We did have a fan though so we could beat the heat and dry our clothes and we scavenged a couple of his OSHO World magazines on the way out which made up for their overpriced pizza. We had done a deal for a room with a television and asked that the staff bring us one so we could watch BBC news and see what is going on in the ...

Temples, tombs and opulence!

... a horse had been prepared for his final few minutes to the bride's home. I assured him he had nothing to worry about, as his new wife was quite beautiful (neither had seen the other before, not even a photograph). Similarly, I returned to the bride and assured her that she was marrying a very handsome chap (which he was). The girls giggled and wanted to include me in all their final preparations. I made a donation to a couple of guys who were taking donations for ...

The famous temples of Khajuraho

... the temple dominates the surrounding countryside. The main spire is over 100 feet high and is surrounded by 84 smaller spires-all of which bear carved stone. Our guide shows us around and tells us a bit of the history. We learn that the Muslim invaders tried to destroy the temples because of the religious symbolism as well as the erotic art. As a result, only 25 of the original group of 85 temples has survived. When the Chandela ...

Road to Khajuraho

... on the road are oxcarts, mostly loaded with agricultural products, although they can also be used as a moving van or rural bus. The oxcarts are very slow and generally will not move out of the way. The road is at times filled with a 3 wheeled vehicle called a tuk tuk. These are generally old and powered by a single cylinder diesel engine, sitting over the front wheel, that makes a rapid popping sound. These vehicles are ...

Khajuraho - A Templing We Go...

... through the temples, enjoying the peace and decided lack of tourists. The hot sun beat down on the stone steps leading up to each temple and we skipped up them hurriedly as our bare feet sizzled, shoes being prohibited inside all of the temples. We wandered awestruck at the astounding intricacy of the carvings that covered every surface both inside and out. They depicted every aspect of life hundreds of years ago, with gods, kings, nobles and ...

Burning ghats and sexy temples

... took a boat tour with our Belgium friend for a few hours. It's common for the boatmen to charge ridiculous prices to take you around but we were able to get a pretty decent priced ride and since the boat ride is a must-do, I think we would have paid more anyways. We started near our guest house and went up towards the larger burning ghat, about an hour there and an hour back. It's such a cool experience to see the ghats from the water and even more fun to snap all kinds of ...
