... to cross the rivers. On the way home we were lucky enough to witness something magical.... There is a dragonfly like insect that lives near the river Tisza only and if you are lucky enough to be here on the one special day out of the year, you can witness the this amaizing mating ritual. Looks like thousands of pixies flying around you, it's out of this world. I say it't time to go home and buy a lottery ticket.
Szeged, Hungary r.laaksoThings really shut down in Europe on Sundays and Szeged was no exception. It's particularly bad in smaller towns when you're hungry and everything's closed...we felt like hobos, searching for food, and especially so when we stumbled across a Knorr van offering free soup-in-a-bun samples, and dove in!
Aside from closed shops though, there were certainly more pretty buildings, and even a lovely fountain to see!
... Szeged can get 40 degrees in the summer and stay like this. I hope it won't be like this for me. I booked a room with a view, atmosphere but more important - air condition. That's the view over Budapest. Beautiful. Look here - that's the train station. The train is called... Paprika :-) I love languages but Hungarian seems impossible to me ...
Szeged, Hungary tiereckeSubotica is a city in northern Serbia, in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Once the second largest city of Serbia , contemporary Subotica is the second largest city of the Vojvodina region following Novi Sad,. Likewise, today it is Serbia's fifth largest ...
Subotica, Serbia and Montenegro sall... of Budapest. When we told Gergor our plans to visit Pécs, he approved. This wasn't always the case. When I would mention places outside of Hungary, particularly in Slovakia and Romania that I wanted to visit, Gergor would speak in Hungarian for about a minute, and then Valerie would translate "Gergor has opinions about this region." But, on his recommendation we are in Szeged, and I have to say there's little to hate about this city. It's bright and there's lots of ...
Szeged, Hungary cantelon-polley... farm animals you bump into; sheep, cows and goats just roam the streets. These goats really need to get laid because they all have bollocks that drag along the ground hindering their movement - traffic slows to a crawl to admire/laugh/scream. From Sutomore the owner magically sorted us out first class train tickets so we could stay in Subotice on our way to Kiev (he used to work for the train service). The buildings are a mix of Yugoslav and ...
Subotica, Serbia and Montenegro baileyandkerry... to visit most of the notable sites. But the fact remains I was born here and it's interesting to see which hospital I was born in or where I was christened, given it is so far removed from where I grew up in Australia. I always feel like I have stepped back in time when I visit Hungary. The buildings for one are very old, most crumbling, and the architecture is completely different from what I know. Most streets are tree ...
Hodmezovarsarhely, Hungary vdevai... one of my cousins lives and just 30km from my birthplace Hodmezovarsahely - a small town with the biggest thing being its name. So, here I am. I wanted hot and I certainly got it. The mercury is in the 30s today and the idea of air conditioning (the Australian way - freezing) has not really caught on yet. Szeged is a beautiful little town, though. I had a nice salad sandwich complete with cabbage and gerkins ...
Szeged, Hungary vdevai... is exactly enough for the town, fortunately, as - while it is a lovely place to look around - seeing the sights takes little more than a few hours. So it makes for a good city to have a relaxing, unhurried visit before heading off elsewhere. Which is what I will be doing from tomorrow then. In the morning, I will take train back southwards to Novi Sad, spend the afternoon there and then return to Belgrade for a few evenings. It should be interesting noting the difference between each place.
