... in screen that we used last night to enter the code provided by the hotel, even though the wifi finds the hotel server, so we are without internet until we have coffee at MacDonald's tomorrow morning, which incidentally is two minutes walk away.
The area of our hotel is Cannaregio which is a residential area of Venice where the locals live, with a few hotels. Having said that, the Main Street, Strada Nuovo, is just up a little alleyway from our hotel and ...

... I , are off to Murano Island on special visit to inspect the glass factory that has provided all the magnificent light fittings, mirrors and art works for our hotel. We get picked up in a beautiful wooden speedboat (taxi?) and whisked off over to the Island. After watching .the "Master" create a beautiful vase we explore the show rooms with lots and lots bargains (well, not really, but they are for sale at a reduced rate,) A great place ...

... I made to the tour book in this one entry?) and the food was wonderful. The
best part was a cheese plate with 6 kind of cheese. We asked what they were and after an entire explanation in Italian from our waiter, we still have no idea what they were except that some were made with cow’s milk and some were made with sheep’s milk.

We took the train home, and after a late trip back and then carrying on into the night drinking wine ...

... Piazzo San Marco. I couldn't believe they could fit so many people in one square. It was packed. Too crowded for my liking.
It was so nice then for the four of us to hire a gondola for an hour and glide through the canals. It was so calm and peaceful on the water compared to the busy square. It was definitely the most memorable part of the day.
We met up with the others again, did some souvenir shopping and stopped for a drink before heading ...

... been in with this much gold mosaic tile on the walls and ceilings! The bones of Saint Mark were originally in Alexandria, Egypt. There was a mob of Muslims that wanted to desecrate the site. Legend has it that Saint Mark stopped in Venice and had a vision of resting here. Some Venetian traders feared for the bones of the saint, so they stole them and brought them to Venice.
