    ... and I followed meeting them again at 6pm that night and sharing dinner (and Max's hotel room!) and breakfast. From there I made the 4 hr drive back to London and Max did also - but he went via Stratford-upon-Avon to see Shakespere's birthplace. I was so thrilled to hand the keys of the (undamaged) car back this morning! It was fairly stressful driving and navigating by myself, but totally worth it! What an amazing 10 days - thanks to everyone who made it a dream come ...

    ... filthy boots were all dumped in a disgusting heap by the door and I spent the next hour and a half in stocking feet. The shop, which has won national awards for its quality and service, was much larger than I expected, with the whole of the first floor dedicated to a walking boot fitting service.     ... and we had a second stop there. Again it was very busy with loads of tourists and their big camera's. We like Bowness as it has a number of shops both independent and chain and the narrow streets and Lakeland architecture is very pleasing to the eye.
