Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India indianature... think about it and time will show.
And it really have been 2 very inspiring hours, I wouldn't like to have missed.

So after that I took an 'auto' (motorriksha) to T Nagar Busstand because the AC buses to Kanchipuram only start running from there. I arrived here around 3.30 pm and opted for one of the better hotels, as I really didn't feel like being in the noisy road where the busstand is. And although I am low-maintenance I don't ...
Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, India nax... place is truely awesome. After the sea shore temple we headed towards a place that had different architectual housing of all over India. It was fascinating to see all the different types of housing they have all around southern India. By the end of the day I was hot and sunburnt and really tired. On the way back to chennai Siva and Prag fell asleep in the car whilst I was happily listening to Indian music and watching the landscape go by
Mahabalipuram, India shiden... He taught us so much about Hinduism as well as the caste system in India and arranged marriages. The last temple we visited was the temple where he is a priest. He wakes up every morning at 4AM to go lead prayers for two hours and then teaches Sanscrit for a few hours in the morning. After that he gives tours in order to bring a little more money home and then in the evening leads more prayers and teachings. We learned all about the Indian wedding rituals and how he ...
Kanchipuram, India libby824... ad...He made me physically ill. Anyway, once he left, all was good. The house staff was super nice, there was a lot of security and the house itself was gorgeous and spotless. Our beach was practically private, and the pool was amazing. We spent the first day just hanging out on the beach and in the pool, and went into town the next day. We saw these gorgeous Hindu temples all along the coast of the city. Beautiful! The city itself was a pretty little ...
Mamallapuram, India melissa_adams... as we found out) you are Indian and Catholic, in which case you look Hindu and the guide will tell you to go in anyway. The first was Sri Eakkarbaranthar which was built in several stages beginning in the seventh century and ending in the sixteenth. The design was similar to the Sri Meenakshi temple we saw in Madurai with huge, ornately decorated towers ringing the outside grounds. The temple is also well know for having a seveal centuries old mango tree in the ...
Kanchipuram, India tgreenspan... relicts here. "The kingdom of God is within you"--one of the most famous phrases of Jesus as found in the Gospel of St. Thomas. Why is this important? Instead of requiring an inner sanctum or a cathedral, Jesus was saying that all you needed to do was look within, or "under a rock," as he also said. Once Portugese missionaries arrived to South India, they then converted the St. Thomas Christians to Catholics. To complete the loop, in brief, The Kingdom of God is Within You ...
