... through is very flat, dry and seems to be quite poor in most areas. The people have been very friendly including one man in a small village that stopped for a chat and then gave us a small Polish flag to take on our way. The language for us has been almost unpronouncable - some words don't even have a vowel in them! The history of the country has been horiffic for the people and their resiliance is amazing. We still have not visited Warsaw or Krackow - next time I guess!

The campsite was completely surrounded by trees and we were woken up by a rather noisy woodpecker at 4am.

Ok so after a heavy weekend, rest needed, I booked a hostel where I could wash my clothes.
Got there and its a huge city, but found the hostel ok.
This was never gonna be an exciting entry as I only booked where I was because it was very cheap, and had ...

... me to a seat in a synthetically-lit carriage opposite a guy with no concept of personal space. 7 hours of this won't do! Thankfully the carriage attendent is willing to persevere on my behalf and half an hour (and £7) later I am 'upgraded' to a couchette for the journey to Warsaw. The couchette is hard, narrow and cramped. And I am very glad for it! Journey Phase 19.6 A(iii) is almost ...
