Took the bus from Kraków to Zakopane and then another bus to the start of the hike. The hike took two hours to reach Morskie Oko aka the Eye of the Sea, which is a big beautiful lake in a valley surrounded by mountains. We hiked 400m vertically, but a total of 10km distance. Then we hiked around ...

SUNDAY: We left Krakow for the two hour drive to Zakopane and soon found we had left behind the communist concrete, as were drove into fresh air and mountains. Felt so good to be getting back to nature. That is until we started hitting some heavy traffic jams. I guess since it was such a beautiful day, as well as being a Sunday, you wouldn't expect anything less. So the two hours, ended up being about 3.5 but it didn’t matter, we had all the time in ...

It had become very cold and the rain persisted for the rest of the ride, making it very unpleasant. However the spectacular scenery more than compensated for the conditions. We travveled through several small villages and the larger town of Liptovski Hrador before reachingg ouur destination for the day.

High above the alpines amongst the clouds, I gaze upon the pine trees and valley towns. Birds echo along the foothills as clouds scoot up the ravine, perched on a granite boulder, I enjoy the stillness. Passing the ridge we venture down through the trees to the distant sound of water. Arriving at Zamkovskeho Chalet nestled in the pines we duck into a cosy cabin for a hot Turkish coffee. Walking alongside the rushing waterfall, it's loud applause cheers us on. The mountains grow as ...

Purple and yellow flowers line the edge of the grassy granite path as we venture upon the mountain ridge towards Mt Chleb. The fresh alpine air cleanses my lungs from the metropolis's stain. I sigh a grand relief as I view distant towns, ahhhhhh. Arriving at our camp at the foot of the high tatras (the mountain range between Slovakia and Poland) we pitch our tent and admire the beauty. ...
