... Montreux Jazz festival is on so it was quite packed. We saw a few of the touristy things to see, like the Freddy Mercury statue and the Grand Swiss Hotel where Smoke on the Water was written and recorded. ... Then the fun began. We couldn't find a taxi big enough to take us and the boxes, and by the time we found the bus terminal, the bus we needed had gone. John decided to put the bikes together, just outside the police station, so that we could lock them up and leave them there while we got a taxi to our hotel, and then we would walk back the 3 km and get the bikes, riding them back to the hotel. Heat wave in Geneva

... day we were there was the hottest day in history for Geneve since 1921. It was also the hottest day of our trip. I looked at the weather and it was hotter than anywhere we had been in Italy and hotter than anywhere we will be going. We expected Switzerland to be a bit of a cool down for us, turned out to be the opposite. We are now in Bern, we spent a large amount of time in Geneve weighing our options to go to Zurich or not. ... later, we'd explored every park, sit-upon ride thingy, and smelled every flower (they were gorgeous) to finally arrive at the museum. Each ticket was printed with a particular sport and funnily enough they were so highly appropriate!

Tony got the C-1 paddler, Talia the gymnast, I got the figure skater (perhaps a nod to my dance background..waaaaay back) and Avaia - got the high jumper, BUT if you turned it upside down, it looked like the monkey climbing ...

The Cathedral of Notre Dame of Lausanne belongs to the Swiss Reformed church and building on the cathedral started in 1175. The cathedral was consecrated in 1275. The pipe organ is unique in the world and was inaugurated in December 2003. It took 10 years to design and build and is composed of 7000 pipes, 2 consoles, 5 claviers and 1 pedalier. It weighs 40 tons and cost 40 million Swiss Francs to build.
