Taking the cable car, we climbed to the Stockhorn (3532m) to enjoy the fantastic view of the Matterhorn (4478m) and other peaks well above 4000m.

Lauterbrunnen sits at the base of one of the many valleys in the Swiss Alps, the most well-known landmark nearby is the Jungfrau summit. Arrived in Interlaken Oust and the brand spanking new YHA - very modern and eco-friendly - was about 100 metres from the station. The front is floor to ceiling glass - double glazed - and it was actually a little hot inside for my liking but the lift was definitely welcomed. You get a key card for the door but you also swipe it over the locker to lock and unlock. All the lights in the corridors and loos ...
... so late...eleven! We had to go through a really dark tunnel - spooky. Luckily I had my handy, dandy little flashlight (thanks for insisting, Mom!). We were exhausted when we got back, practically falling asleep over our pizza. Switzerland is beautiful. Maybe I will have to return in the winter to tackle Jungfrau (the top of Europe!)?
p.s...The chocolate is as good as you hear it is!
