As we were in the area, we had to pay a
visit and so from Hannover, we boarded the train for the short
journey to Hameln. It is a small mediaeval town that largely survived
the war intact. We did find the remains of a bombed out church, and

Around 90% of Hannover were destroyed during WW2 and when I saw some of
the old houses that remained untouched it really broke my heart as I
could only imagine how pretty this city must have once been.

The breakfast was fantastic, too. You could make yourself waffles, or full English breakfast or tomato mozzarella or you could take honey out of a real honeycomb. :-) How cool is that? And you were also given your own newspaper in the morning.
