Well I am still doing great. School is just getting to be absolutely unbearable. thank god we have a week off next week. Semana Santa. Wahoo. I plan to take a ferry across the peninsula and travel up to Tamirindo to take some surfing lessons. This is probably the longest week of my entire life. Is it really only Wednesday evening. I met my Uncle Wiley in San Jose on Sat. and we toured the city and did some shopping and then met Pat and Jim at Avis. We rented a car and drove down to Puntarenas...

Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica pamericasSmall village on the main road but Tucan Hotel set back. Not cheap and only 2 showers/toilets shared between up to 4 people in treehouse, 4 in hammocks, multiple others camping plus 12 people in dorms when fully occupied. Female shower/toilet always full of men as bigger - thankfully came when quiet.
Cocked up the directions to the falls, Cascadas Verde & didn't turn left before hardware store. Ended up crossing the river ...
... figured it was a fuel issue. Now, a few days later, we relize the problem was not Wesley but bad fuel. White smoke, which we were blowing, is a sign of too much water in the fuel. Of course we had to get the bad Diesel right before going over the Moutain of Death! Luckily Wesley is running fine now.
That night we parked in the middle of a pineapple field own buy yours truly, Del Monte. I never thought we would be enjoying Del Monte for it's beautiful sunset's!
Just a quick blog to keep you up to date
Had to change plans as there was no space at Sirena Ranger Station. Margarita was able to organise alternative route into Corcovado
Got Marvi bus to Sierpe. Stayed in good cabinas and had excellent meal in their restaurant
... dogs came over and slept under the seats near me, while one (obviously ostracised from the group...he had chewing gum on his leg....cant be seen in THAT posse until he cleans his act up it seems) came to say hi and then went to sleep in a corner by himself. Awww. Getting on the bus we saw a small dog limping around kind of happy but his paw was obviously broken and lolling about - really horrible, very sad. Made me feel sick. Life hey. We drove through a different area of ...
Jaco, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica shanemilli... place in Jaco. This street runs right along the ocean and is full of super nice hotels, restaurants, casinos and bars/clubs. . I can only imagine what the real estate value of just the land is. The two dudes who were with the other girlīs take a liking to me and we start to become buddies. The one speaks decent english, the other none. They were trying to talk to me in the club but I had no idea what **** they ...
Jaco, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica thericanNo evo pa sem. tule. zdaj sicer ze kar kak teden.
Jaco, Costa Rica aljalja... spot given the visibility). The surge was bad, but at least it was fun to play flotsam and just move with it back-and-forth over the reef. So that's the end of Costa Rica, and the end (for now) of the English-teaching adventure. It didn't exactly go as expected! And I don't really know what's coming next, in the broader scheme of things. But I've made a few friends, taught a little English, fled a volcano, seen a few monkeys...Not a bad four months!
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica jesshiggins... little disconcerting. We are coming down a curvy mountain road, it is pouring, and there are no wipers. But we do arrive alive in Esteli by 7:30 and then onto Condega, our destination for tonight, 20 minutes later. Condega is Efrain's territory. It is the town closest to his little pueblo. His pueblo, Santa Teresa is 8 km outside of town, and there are no more buses at this time of night. We go to the only "hotel" in town. It is very BASIC. 2 single beds ...
