      ... Europe to attend a massive music festival. The vibe in the train to Romania was one of sadness, silence, and depression. The train was old with no AC, so this contributed negatively to the mood of the passengers as the summer in this part of Europe has reached temperatures above 40 degrees.       ... into Hungary was like travelling 1000 miles in 5 minutes. I went from Romania which feels very much like Eastern Europe to Hungary and its posh motorway as good as anything in France or Spain.
      Arriving in Budapest the feeling of well and truly having arrived in 'western' Europe was reinforced as Budapest is definitely a tourist town.

      I look forward to exploring Budapest.

      ... been gypsy kids! - could have been 'all sorts' of kids), in fact we have been waved at by lots op peope, including lots of gypsies. By the way: it of course helps, that we cannot very well tell the gypsies from the 'other' Romanians :-)

      ... him that our U.K insurance covers us in Europe too. As Romania was part of the EU we should be covered here. His reply was that not all EU rules were as yet established here. I decided the that rule of the British pound might do the trick so I took a risk and put 20 in his hand. It worked, we were free to go: no questions asked!

      ... bookstore to try and use up our Hungarian money buying a guide to India, no luck, but I did get Bram Stoker's Dracula to read in Transylvania. Unfortunately then we managed to miss a turning and do 9 miles through a random industrial estate before realising our error and having to cycle a hair-raising 4 miles back down the motorway to where we started. Gutted. Decided to make it to Mako and re-evaluate the options. Found the turning this time, and it took us to a ferry bridge which was ...
