We had fried potatoes with every meal. In this particular restaurant, the host was in his late 80’s and never moved quickly. It's not just the cleanliness of the buildings and streets, though this helps of course, it's because Urbino sits on a hill, and is alternately washed by the rain (and snow) and polished by the bright summer sun. We found our initial view was right: it is not flat. But it is very beautiful. Every single street goes up or down, often quite steeply, and many of them have great views as we hope you will see from the photos. Wait till we get back and you see the full slide show! ...

... We pulled off the autostrada for a coffee and a croissant for those who wanted - and was served by an Italian speaking Chinese (seemed out of place). Every little place and one horse town has a very good coffee machine we have found in Italy. San Marino is certainly a jewel to visit! It is situated on the Italian Peninsula on the NE side of the Apennines Mountains. It is 61 km2. It is the wealthiest country in the world in terms of GDP (per capita). We caught ...
