We took the stairs, and after returning to the ground floor, we went back up the stairs to the top again because we have been having 'step' withdrawal symptoms since leaving Atrani! Next to Piazza Erbe is Piazza Dante, with a large statue of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri in the middle, and a villa and tombs of the once powerful Scaligeri family (a bit like Florence's Medici family) ...

      We took the flight from Amsterdam to Venice at 7:30AM. Then we took a bus to the train station called "Venezia Mestre" from the airport.       ... times. How they managed to use the long swords with all the armour they had on I have no idea. The route home had the famous Savoia gelato shop on it, fancy that! Went to a Veronan restaurant suggested by our host tonight, even had donkey and horse on the menu. We chickened out on those options but what we did have was magnificent, also excellent service. A great night out. We have really enjoyed Verona, it is a smaller city of a manageable size on foot, and easy to find your way ...
